Frenemies is a visual exploration of a story set in a seemingly perfect suburban high school hiding a dark undercurrent.

Two former best friends, now barely speaking, find themselves drawn back together by the disappearance of a classmate.

As secrets unravel, the line between ally and enemy blurs.

The goal of this styleframe series is to visualize the emotional and aesthetic world of the show

capturing its themes of fractured identity, secrets in plain sight, and the high-stakes drama of adolescence with a cinematic, dreamlike edge.

Objective: Create a series of 5–7 standalone or sequential styleframes that establish the tone, setting, and key tensions of

Frenemies, suitable for use as:

  • Pitch visuals
  • Concept art for an opening title sequence
  • A standalone motion design case study
  • Personal work for portfolio or shortform reel

Visual World & Tone

The show lives in a heightened, stylized version of a modern American high school—where fluorescent lights flicker like interrogation rooms, yearbook portraits feel like surveillance, and innocence is a curated performance.

The environment feels both nostalgic and menacing, drenched in moody lighting and thick atmosphere.

Frame 1:

Title – set against the backdrop of a highschool locker, you can see hints of grit grime and stains on the surface. Which is a metaphor for the characters and what they experience/go through amidst the dark undercurrent of solving a crime.

Frame 2:

The discovery of the possible perpetrator’s diary/journal – along with stains and notes and a little flame – suggests the mental state. Definitely not stable. The cast credit is hidden among the pages along with the other page elements.

Frame 3:

Is a more abstract representation of the mental state of the possible murderer. Complete with over the top intense love notes/texts/with a middle finger attitude. Note the casting credit in the deranged love note as well.

Frame 4:

The End? Or is it….
